The SPCA promotes responsible animal ownership across South Africa and our Community Outreach projects are at the heart of our Society’s mission - assisting in uplifting communities across the Randburg area by creating a compassionate, informed and proactive community that works together to improve the welfare of animals.
Helping Communities & their Pets Thrive
Our Community Outreach projects address a wide variety of challenges faced by all animals and their owners in disadvantaged circumstances. Collectively, we work towards improving the whole life of the animals and through education, training, and law enforcement, where necessary, ensure that owners take responsibility and are able to care for their own animals.
Our inspectors, accompanied by other staff do regular outreaches during which we:
Educate the community on responsible animal care.
Instil respect and appreciation for all animals.
Inform citizens about cruelty to animals, and request their support in reporting cruelty.
Provide primary veterinary services such as vaccinations, tick&flea dipping, and deworming.
Educate pet owners on the importance of sterilisation, the proper care of animals and the prevention of cruelty.
Food, feeding bowls, collar/leads & bedding donations.
By uplifting communities, we prevent suffering before it begins. Every sterilisation stops unwanted litters, every vaccination protects against disease and every visit strengthens the bond between people and their animals.
